Indecision is an energy-sapping and highly time-consuming malady, one which I am frequently afflicted by. Whether it has served me well to over-analyse every one of life’s important (and trivial) choices is up for debate but when I’m standing at a sandwich counter for twenty minutes because I just can’t make my lunch selection, that’s when I wish I was that wee bit more decisive.
My favourite travel photo
When Kelly got in touch asking me to ponder over my favourite travel photo for this month’s travel blog link up, you can imagine how engorged the rivers of ditheriness became. It was bank breaking. And I’m not talking about money. Where on earth do I possibly start? Favourite country? Can’t decide that. Favourite sight? Can’t decide that either. Favourite photo? Nope. 3rd time unlucky.
So I thought about some of my favourite moments instead and I carved ever deeper into my subconscious to remember some of the days that left me feeling as fuzzy as a wild dandelion. And a few musings later, unsurprisingly, honeymoon memories bubbled up from that box in my grey matter labelled ‘Africa’, the one I cherish so deeply.
A Romantic Beach Lunch at Breeze’s Beach Club, Zanzibar
This photo was taken on the marshmallow-soft, dove-white sands of the Breezes Beach Club Resort. Twigs, bamboo and palm leaves were interwoven to form a shady gazebo with exotic and illuminating flowers marking the contours like a child’s felt-tip pen. The eternally smiley staff spent a couple of hours erecting it prior to our lunch.
We had opted for one seafood platter with fresh lobster fit for a king and one vegetarian platter with generous chunks of mixed vegetables and paneer, highlighting the influence of Indian flavours in Zanzibari cuisine.
We ate lunch with our feet cocooned in the sand and our palms interlocked. The low tide kept us dry but the breeze that lends its name to the resort was palpable. The private lunch left us feeling pampered on a stretch of coastline untouched with the exception of one couple passing by, transiently turning their heads with curiosity. 
When we returned to the beach that evening for the final time before flying home to start our new married lives, the gazebo was gone with no evidence of its existence. Was it all a figment of our imagination? It was certainly the stuff of dreams. But that’s where technology asserts its role and two matrimonial years later, the photos give our memories the clarity to live out those idyllic moments once more.
Why Waste Annual Leave? 
That seafood platter looks amazing and the gazebo is so cute! What a beautiful honeymoon memory and something you will remember forever.
Zanzibar has the best food, everything is so fresh and oh my goodness the taste is out of this world. I don’t think I have tasted pineapple that good again in my life!
P.S. It’s perfectly acceptable to stand at the sandwich counter for twenty minutes, I do it all the time until I almost faint due to lack of food xx
Hehe, Thanks Kelly, I’m reassured to hear I’m not the only one with the indecisive sandwich problem 😀 I agree about the fruits in Zanzibar – for me, it was the enormous passion fruit and waking up to fresh passion juice every morning – I’d fly back just for that luxury!! x

I know I’m biased but I’d definitely recommend bumping it up as high as possible on your bucket list!! 😀

This looks amazing! Such a beautiful place for a honeymoon! I went to Zanzibar but it was part of a long overland trip through Africa so we weren’t exactly staying in the most luxurious place. May have to suggest to hubby that we go back to see a different side to Zanzibar!

Thanks Emma – you’re certainly all making me feel a lot better about the amount of time I spend dithering over lunch choices – now I just need to convince my other half that it’s normal to weigh up pros and cons over a sandwich choice! 😀 The beach lunch was a lovely final treat to the honeymoon – it was nice having this month’s theme to remind me of those moments!

Awww thank you so much, Zanzibar was beautiful 🙂 The platters were delicious (but absolutely enormous!) Despite our best efforts, there was so much we couldn’t finish because even after these 2 platters, they then brought out 2 huge plates of freshly cut fruit and we felt so bad for having to leave some!

Jess, thank you so much for these kind words – really made my day 🙂 This was my only ever trip to Africa, venturing to mainland Tanzania for safari first then this but I know what you mean – there was just something about the feel of the place, which I’ve never felt before – just really bonded with it and would LOVE to go back! I really liked how beautiful it was just being temporarily put up and really just made of plants, flowers and twigs – just goes to show that you don’t need fancy restaurants or chandeliers sometimes to have the most romantic lunches and dinners! One of the reasons I love reading travel blogs is finding out about places I knew nothing about or often have never even heard of so I’m delighted you’ve got a little glimpse into the beaches of Zanzibar – it’s certainly ideal for a slightly offbeat but beautiful beach destination but there’s also a lot of culture and history associated with it!

That’s amazing! I love this! I’m actually planning a reunion with some friends who are abroad in Zanzibar and this is making me drool of excitement! And such wonderful memories too! It was definitely the same for me when I tried to decide which picture to take, it had to be pertaining to a good memory!

Looks wonderful! We’ll be in Zanzibar in a few weeks after a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro and some safari time and can’t wait for some relaxing time on the beach!

I hadn’t looked at these photos for a while so I wasn’t sure if the novelty would have worn off but taking one look at them, I was dreaming myself straight back there – it really did look like a paradise island but one full of culture and interesting markets, history etc 🙂
